greeNEWit Co-Founder Jason Jannati Joins Leadership Howard County's Class of 2017

COLUMBIA, MD - greeNEWit Co-Founder and Maryland Entrepreneur Jason Jannati is proud to join the Leadership the Leadership Howard County Class of 2017. Fifty individuals were selected for the 10-month program that is designed to empower and connect community leaders and keep them engaged in the critical issues facing Howard County and the region. The class members represent business, nonprofit, government, and educational organizations.

"We are very pleased with the selection of this year’s Leadership Premier Class,” Leadership Howard County Board Chair Jon May said. “As always, they represent a cross-section of the community, bringing an array of perspectives, talents, and resources to the class.”

He notes, “The leadership program will increase their awareness of the issues and challenges facing Howard County and expand their network of contacts throughout the business, nonprofit, and governmental communities, allowing them to take their place and help build a better community. We appreciate these individuals and their respective organizations for making this commitment to help make Howard County the best place to live, work, and play.”

Stacie Hunt, President and CEO of Leadership Howard County adds, "This is a critical time in our community and our world to be actively involved. There are many challenges in communities throughout our country, and the solutions come from the connections we make together. This year’s class will learn the tools to become and stay engaged.”

Jannati joins the group as co-founder of greeNEWit, whose mission is to redevelop the built environment to produce power and grow food. An expert in social entrepreneurship, Jannati has built numerous companies centered around helping people and planet address the world's toughest challenges. Recently recognized at the White House for his contributions to the nation’s economy, Jannati is a motivator, leader, and champion for job creation in the clean-tech industry.

The Leadership program was launched in 1985 to develop capable, well-informed individuals committed to devoting their time and resources for community improvement. The program addresses countywide issues in monthly, daylong seminars where these concerned citizens meet with established leaders in business, government and community services.
