TOP COMPANIES STARTED BY YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS


greeNEWit has been named to the 2012 Empact Showcase by Empact, an organization that focuses on making entrepreneurship a viable career option for everyone around the world. greeNEWit Co-Founders Jason Jannati, Josh Notes and Matej Harangozo were recognized as being among the top companies started by young entrepreneurs. The showcase is a compilation of companies in the United States started by entrepreneurs who are age 30 and under, and whose annual revenues or operating budgets (for non-profits) are more than $100,000. In 2012, the companies comprising the Empact Showcase contributed more than 8,000 jobs to the economy and controlled $1 billion in revenue. Read more...

greeNEWit sponsored the Second Annual Baltimore Multi-Family Summit June 26, 2012. We joined Bisnow, property management and leaders of the condo and apartment community to discuss one of the area's hottest real estate sectors. The event covered topics including how the current economy affects this market and new development requirements in sustainability and innovation. greeNEWit Co-Founder Jason Jannati was interviewed on stage before the panel presentations began. IN DEVELOPING NATIONS

 

greeNEWit has partnered with Opportunity International, a nonprofit that helps people in developing countries work their way out of poverty. greeNEWit has joined the nonprofit in their efforts to provide access to small business loans, savings, insurance and training to more than four million people in some of the world’s most remote and impoverished areas. greeNEWit purchased an allotment of small business loans in the form of gift cards and are distributing them to employees. As part of the company’s social corporate responsibility, the employees get to decide which Opportunity International businesses to invest in, giving them a voice in the company’s philanthropic choices. YOUNG ENTREPRENEUR COUNCIL

The Young Entrepreneur Council (YEC), invited award-winning young entrepreneur Jason Jannati to join the invite-only organization of successful business owners across the nation. The YEC, an invite-only nonprofit membership organization, promotes entrepreneurship as a means to overcome youth unemployment and underemployment.

In July, greeNEWit Director of Agents of Change Gabe Bustos was a judge for the Junior Achievement National Student Leadership Summit at the Cannon House Building in Washington, DC. Bustos judged the 15 student companies represented at the event trade fair.

We're excited to start off the fall 2012 school year with with a solid group of impressive interns for greeNEWit. Eight new Agents of Change will aim to inspire positive action and change the way we use, produce and think about our energy. We're welcoming two University of Maryland students and six from Howard County high schools.

There's an upcoming greeNEWit Day at Fulton Elementary School October 26, 2012. Built to bring greeNEWit Day home in the form of actionable energy efficiency, we provide energizing presentations to educate elementary
students on the importance of saving the environment. In addition, we offer an Energy Savings Incentive that gives students the opportunity to win prizes while earning money for their school to be used toward Green Schools certification, STEM programs, school building upgrades, field trips and other efficient causes.
